Versailles & Vallée de Chevreuse

Sightseeing Tour in the French Countryside: Combine Versailles with Vallée de Chevreuse for a lovely full day trip from Paris.

Start your day with a visit to Versailles, residence of the Sun King, Louis XIV. Here, you will discover the famous "A la Francaise" gardens, as well as the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon and Marie Antoinette's Hamlet. Also enjoy a visit on your own for about an hour of the great apartments, the Hall of Mirrors, and the Queen's apartments. (non guided tour inside the Versailles Castle).

Then enjoy lunch at your guide’s home in beautiful Saint-Rémy-les-Chevreuse (15 miles from Paris). Her quaint old house has a magnificent view of the Yvette valley, and is located next to an old watermill. Here you will eat exquisite, traditional home-made canapés, foie gras, pâtés, excellent breads and cheeses, elegant sweets, elaborate cakes, high quality chocolates and petits fours. You will drink the most delicious wines and Champagnes.

After lunch, your guide will show you the impressive, ancient castles of this beautiful area, perched on strategic hills, such as the Chateau de Chevreuse or Chateau de Rochefort. You may also visit a few lovely castles of the 17th century such as Dampierre, Breteuil or beautiful medieval abbeys such as Vaux-de-Cernay.
